The President of the United States visited a plant that produces Javelin – anti -tank missiles that are supplied, among other things, to the armed forces of Ukraine.
Biden visited a Javelin plant in Alabama and called for more capacity for Ukraine. On Tuesday, May 3, according to Reuters.
The agency noted that the United States has already delivered 5,500 Javelins to Ukraine, while in 20 years the plant has only produced nearly 50,000 Javelins.
The other day, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that these anti-tank missile systems have proven to be very efficient and that Ukraine’s armed forces need about 500 of them every day.
In turn, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the government has the ability to allocate these missile systems from its own stocks, but plant owners said they were willing to increase capacity. And the president’s visit to this business will at least cheer and thank.
“You allow Ukrainians to defend themselves, and, frankly, in many cases, we are making a mockery of Russia’s military,” the U.S. president said, referring to workers on the factory assembly line. .
Lockheed chief Jim Tyclet said the company is trying to expand production capacity at its plant in Troy, Alabama.
Today the company employs 600 people. The plant produces five types of missiles and is the only production area for the assembly of Javelin systems.
Recall that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised Ukraine Brimstone anti-ship missiles and armored vehicles for the evacuation of civilians.
