The state Russian corporation Rostec, through intermediaries, purchases products of American companies Analog Devices, Xilinx, Texas Instruments, Microchip Technology, Bourns, Swiss ST Microelectronics, Japanese Murata, German Infineon, subject to export control.
Rostec needs microelectronics to produce electronic warfare equipment for the war in Ukraine, writes the Important Stories investigation.
The supply chain is as follows: the Saratov company VMK with four employees supplies the products of the Radioelectronic Technologies concern, which is part of Rostec. VMK has only four employees, but it is one of the largest suppliers of electronic components to Russia. In 2022, she imported goods worth $43 million.
VMK buys microelectronics from its foreign partners – Hong Kong’s Tordan Industry Limited and Turkey’s Turkik Union And Dijital Teknoloji. In addition, the Chinese company belongs to the owner of the VMK itself. The Turkish company is owned by the family of the nephews of the former intelligence chief of the Turkish General Directorate of Security, Atilla Aitek. Other suppliers of Rostec operate according to a similar scheme.
This microelectronics is necessary for the production of Khibiny electronic countermeasures systems, which protect Russian aircraft from air defense systems, Vitebsk, which protects helicopters, Krasukha, as well as the SAP-518SM jamming system. All of them the Russian army is now using in Ukraine.
