Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov announced changes in the supply of products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense plans to expand the number of food suppliers, as well as introduce a flexible unified menu system, taking into account the needs of people who follow dietary habits.
Reznikov also promises that the procurement system will become more open to the public. The Ministry of Defense supported the opening of a part of defense purchases and announced a reform of the military food system.
Reznikov said that the introduction of a flexible unified menu should prevent corrupt practices. This takes 4-5 months.
The Ministry of Defense also wants to develop and introduce a vegan, halal, kosher and lenten menu.
In his message on FB, the minister said that after the procurement scandal, he announced a food reform in the army.
The Soviet system assumes the presence of only 30 types of products with minimal qualitative and quantitative characteristics – meat, poultry, etc. When a soldier should receive 1.7 kg of food per day, excluding bread.
She also suggests that the army should have its own pigsties, farms, buy potatoes once a year and eat them all year, sorting out rotten ones. Now in the catalog system there is a choice of 409 positions, from which the chief food officers of military units form a diet for soldiers with an energy value of 3,500 calories per day.
This is both a step forward and new risks. After all, there are only seven types of chicken in the catalog, which implies different prices,” the minister noted.
Such a system generally works well, but, according to Reznikov, allows loopholes for conspiracies and abuses. He wants to close them.
