Rheinmetall may deliver 139 Leopard tanks to Ukraine, but not immediately

The Rheinmetall concern may send 139 Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine throughout the year, although the first 29 vehicles may be delivered in the spring.

German military-industrial concern Rheinmetall may transfer 139 Leopard tanks to Ukraine if the German government gives it permission. On Tuesday, January 24, the RND report refers to the press secretary of the concern.

He noted that the concern is ready to transfer 29 Leopard 2A4 intended for “circular exchange” in April-May this year.

It will take about a year to fix another 22 Leopards of the same modification, according to the spokesperson, and they will likely be moved in late 2023 or early 2024.

In addition, Rheinmetall may transfer another 88 old Leopard 1. If they are ready for operation, and if not, when they will be ready, the spokesman did not specify.

Earlier, Rheinmetall reported that by 2023 they will supply the Armed Forces with up to 15 tanks.
