Estonia announced the transfer of howitzers and anti-tank grenade launchers to Kyiv.
We donate all our 155mm howitzers in Ukraine. And we want to create a precedent in this way so that other countries have no excuses why they cannot provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons to win the war,” said Estonian Ambassador Kaimo Kuusk.
The Embassy notes that this is the largest package of military assistance provided to Ukraine, with a total value of 113 million euros. It included dozens of 155 mm FH-70 and 122 mm D-30 howitzers, thousands of 155 mm artillery shells, hundreds of M2 Carl Gustaf anti-tank grenade launchers with ammunition, and means of supporting artillery units.
After this consignment of weapons is sent to Ukraine, the total volume of military assistance to Kyiv from Estonia will grow to 370 million euros, or just over 1% of Estonia’s annual gross domestic product, the Estonian broadcaster ERR reported earlier, citing the government.
Meanwhile, Berlin says it will soon make an early decision on the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said he was waiting for a timely decision on the supply of tanks, adding that he considered them necessary for the Ukrainian offensive in the east.
Everyone understands why [президент України Володимир Зеленський] needs, and everyone understands the need, and therefore there will soon be a solution, whatever it may be, – said the Minister of Defense of Germany.
According to the “War Weapons Control Law”, the German government must agree to any shipments of German-made weapons to the war zone.
