Even before it was published in the media, anti-corruption officials have already begun an investigation into possible abuses in the purchase of food for the military.
Information presented in the media about possible abuses by the Ministry of Defense in the purchase of food for the military is known and is being investigated as part of a criminal case. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported this on Monday, January 23.
“Due to the loud publications in the media about possible abuses by the Ministry of Defense when buying food for the military, we inform you that the information provided is known to NABU and SAPO, it is being investigated as part of the criminal proceedings initiated on its own basis before publication in the media,” the report said.
According to NABU, among other things, the investigation is examining purchases worth more than 13 billion hryvnias.
Preliminary legal qualification – appropriation, embezzlement of property or its property by abuse of official position (part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
“The investigation is ongoing. The rest of the details are the secret of the investigation,” the anti-corruption activists added.
The other day, the media reported that the Ministry of Defense is allegedly buying products two to three times more expensive than their value in Kyiv stores. The leadership of the military department was summoned to the Rada because of this information.
In this regard, the head of the Ministry of Defense, Alexei Reznikov, denied this information. He believed that the purpose of the “throw-in” was to undermine confidence in the Ministry of Defense on the eve of Ramstein-8.
