Kyiv hopes for a positive assessment of the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission, which will make it possible to start negotiations before the accession in early 2023.
Ukraine hopes for tangible practical results of the EU-Ukraine summit. This is what the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said in an online speech to the EU Council of Foreign Ministers on Monday, January 23.
“We have high expectations from the Ukraine-EU summit on February 3 and the joint meeting of the government of Ukraine and the EU College on the eve of the summit. We expect tangible practical results of both events,” said the minister.
He recalled that Ukraine has completed the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission and expects a positive report from the European Commission this spring.
Kuleba also emphasized that Ukraine expects a positive assessment of its efforts to implement the recommendations that will be included in the final declaration of the Ukraine-EU summit on February 3.
“We are convinced that pre-accession negotiations should start as soon as possible after Ukraine implements the recommendations and the positive assessment of the European Commission. Ukraine is making all efforts, and I am convinced that we should start the pre-accession negotiations before the end of 2023. No games or narrow political interests should be prevented “, – summed up the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We remind you that the next Ukraine-EU summit will be held on February 3. It will take place in Kyiv. At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelensky recently said that Ukraine is waiting for “practical steps” in rapprochement with the European Union.
At the same time, the EU recently named an important condition for Ukraine’s membership.
