Some 180,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or injured in the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
This was stated by the commander of the armed forces of Norway, General Eirik Christofersen, in an interview with the Norwegian TV channel TV 2.
According to the Norwegian general, Ukraine’s losses in the war “probably amount to more than 100,000 killed and wounded soldiers.” He stressed that about 30,000 more Ukrainian civilians were killed.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation last reported its losses in September 2022. By that time, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said, 5,937 Russian servicemen had died. Shoigu claimed that Ukraine had already lost half of its army during the war: 61,207 dead, 49,368 wounded.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on January 23 that more than 121,000 Russian soldiers were killed during the Russian invasion. In December 2022, the office of the President of Ukraine said that from 10,000 to 13,000 Ukrainian servicemen had been killed since the beginning of the invasion.
