We still have to fight for tanks – Zelensky

However, the president said that today’s Ramstein will strengthen our stability – partners will support Ukraine as long as necessary.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine still has to fight for the supply of battle tanks to the West, but this decision should be made eventually. He said this in his evening video message.

“Every day we make it clearer that there is no alternative to the fact that a decision on tanks must be made,” Zelensky said.

He noted that the discussions at the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine (Ramstein format) are closed and not everything can be discussed.

“Today is the day of Rammstein – and defense news for Ukraine, which our diplomatic marathon brings every week. It is not always possible to publicly announce what is being discussed in the Ramstein format. This is a closed discussion – and it should be so. . In general, we can summarize that today’s Ramstein “will strengthen our stability. Our partners are principled in their attitude – they will support Ukraine as long as it is necessary for our success. Yes, we still have to fight for the supply of modern tanks, but every day we make it clearer that there is no alternative that a decision on tanks must be made,” said the president.

He also thanked all partners who clearly support the Ukrainian position in the discussions.

Recall that during the eighth meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in Germany at the American Ramstein airbase, no joint decision was made on the supply of tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
