The dissemination of unverified information is detrimental to partnership relations between the two countries, Tbilisi believes.
Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Andrey Kasyanov, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine. The Ukrainian diplomat was called in connection with the information disseminated by the intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Georgian Foreign Ministry on Monday, May 2.
“In expressing the dissatisfaction of the Georgian side with such allegations, Deputy Minister Teimuraz Dzhandzhalia stressed that the dissemination of such unverified information is detrimental to the partnership of the two countries,” the report said.
Kasyanov was asked to provide factual explanations and evidence for this information. In response, the diplomat said that at this stage he had no explanations, noting that a corresponding notice would be sent to Kyiv.
Note that we are talking about Ukrainian intelligence data, which was made public in early April. At that time, it was noted that Russia had established smuggling channels through Georgia, used to deliver spare parts for equipment, electronics and optical devices, in excess of sanctions. It is also said that representatives of the Georgian special services did not interfere with the activities of Russian agents, as they received such orders from the country’s political elite.
