The Ukrainian military in the north is being reinforced by mobile air defense fire teams to protect Kyiv’s airspace. This was reported by the Command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Facebook page on Friday, January 20.
The report says that in the northern direction of the defense of Ukraine, at the initiative of the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Sergei Naev, the creation of mobile air defense fire groups is gaining momentum.
“In the first stage of work, 19 air defense groups were created based on powerful off-road vehicles Ford F250 and Ford F350, adapted to combat conditions. They will protect the skies both outside Kyiv and the airspace over the settlements in the north and north-west of Ukraine,” Naev said.
According to him, mobile firing units now protect approaches to critical infrastructure facilities in the Volyn region and strategic facilities in the Sumy region.
The commander added that so far, another batch of off-road vehicles has been handed over to experienced crews. The latter is capable of moving quickly and engaging air targets, including unmanned aerial vehicles such as Mohajer-6 and Shahed 136.
As we reported earlier, the Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed five Russian Lancet kamikaze drones, with which the aggressors wanted to attack the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
We add that on January 14, five drones, 26 missiles were destroyed and at the same time 630 Russian aggressors were “minused”.
