Dmitry Medvedev, the Kremlin’s head secretary, said it was “extremely dangerous” to give some weapons to Ukraine.
The Kremlin began to threaten Western countries with “taking the conflict to a new level” if Ukraine is given weapons to strike the territory of the Russian Federation. This was said at a briefing on Thursday, January 19, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, according to the Russian pro-government news agency Interfax-Ukraine.
He also assured that even discussions about such supplies are “extremely dangerous.”
“This means bringing the conflict to a new qualitative level, which will not be good in terms of global and pan-European security,” said a representative of the current ruling regime of the Russian Federation.
Peskov assures that “in itself, the discussion about the authorization of providing Ukraine with weapons that would allow strikes on Russian territory … is potentially very dangerous.”
“Although Ukraine already has weapons, with the help of which it continues to attack Russian territory every day, I mean our new regions (annexed territory of Ukraine – ed.),” he says.
Peskov added that the reaction of Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov to such reports reflects Russia’s position on this issue.
It should be noted that Anatoly Antonov said earlier that the Russian invaders are “ready to destroy any weapon” that the Americans and their allies will give to Ukraine.
The diplomat also assured that “they will not leave unanswered” an attack on their territory.
It is worth noting that despite the words of the Russian ambassador, Moscow was not able to destroy any of the transferred HIMARS systems, as stated by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and also confirmed by representatives of US earlier.
We add that not only the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia, but also the territories of the Russian Federation, located deep in the rear, can be attacked. In particular, it was previously reported in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation on the territory of a military airport Engels explosions rang out.
