Light gray areas of power outage graphs likely mean power outages.
The energy supply situation in Ukraine remains difficult and “today’s restrictions are the only way to keep things from getting worse.” General director Yasno Sergey Kovalenko said about this.
According to him, the light gray zones of the blackout graphs “probably mean a shutdown.”
“Today, 974 MW have been delivered to Kyiv from the required 1600. We are on the edge of the schedule, off in all the gray areas. The situation continues to be difficult and today’s restriction is the only way to not catch up things. worse,” Kovalenko wrote on Facebook.
He also explained why this is so.
“As you already know, there is now a huge generation deficit. This is how the generation structure in the country looks like at the beginning of 2022: nuclear power plants – 55%, thermal power plants and thermal power plants – 29%, hydroelectric power plants – 7%, recovery sources (solar, wind and other power plants) – 9%.
Nuclear power plants are the main source, they produce large amounts of electricity, but they are inflexible and do not respond quickly to changes in demand. Now nuclear generation is not fully operational due to the fact that the ZNPP does not supply electricity to the grid. And this lack cannot be compensated,” Yasno CEO wrote.
According to him, thermal generation is often used just to quickly balance generation and consumption. Но сейчас продажены и ТЕС. Therefore, power engineers are trying to use hydroelectric power plants, but they take time to recover.
“That is, when we say that the situation is highly non-standard, it is so. The energy system throughout Ukraine is unified. This means that if, for example, a few blocks of a power plant in the west of country does not work, then restrictions will apply to both Lviv and Odessa regions, and Cherkasy region. And the light gray zones of today’s chart probably mean shutdown. All the forces of power engineers is now focused on restoration. Repairs are ongoing. Therefore, one should be patient,” Kovalenko summed up.
Let’s recall that earlier it was reported that the repair and restoration teams of DTEK restored electricity supply to 41,000 households that lost electricity due to the Russian attack on 92 settlements of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions since January 9 to 15.
