The first lady of the United States plans to visit Romania and Slovakia this week, where more than a million Ukrainians have left.

US First Lady Jill Biden will visit Eastern Europe to meet with Ukrainian refugees. This was reported by TheNewYorkTimes on Monday, May 2nd.

Jill Biden plans to leave Washington on Thursday, May 5, to visit Romania and Slovakia, two NATO members that border Ukraine. Here left more than a million Ukrainians.

The first lady will stop at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in Romania, where the US military is stationed. In Bucharest, he will meet with Romanian leaders. Mother’s Day (celebrated on May 8 this year) will be spent in Kosice and Vyshne Nemecko, Slovakia, with Ukrainian mothers and children, and then travel to Bratislava to meet with government officials.

Recall that since June, Ukrainian refugees in Germany have promised to increase social benefits and strengthen job search support. The relevant bill will soon be considered in the Bundestag.

By the way, almost a quarter of Ukrainians who left their homes because of the war have returned. More than a million people have returned from abroad alone, and the number of those internally displaced may be the least.
