Russia’s intelligence agencies are considering the possibility of spreading chaos and unrest in the country.

The Russian Federation has already developed a clear plan for the invasion of Moldovan territory. On Sunday, May 1, The Times wrote, citing sources in the Ukrainian military department.

Citing a source in Ukrainian intelligence, the publication writes that the Kremlin believes that if Russia manages to seize control of Moldova, then Ukraine will be weaker from a military point of view.

“If the occupying country recognizes the independence of Pridnestrovie, it is a direct threat and violation of the integrity of the territory of Moldova. Russia will repeat the” Donbass scenario “, supply weapons there and want to attach them, “the newspaper wrote.

Sources told the newspaper that Russia’s intelligence agencies were aiming to organize riots and unrest in the country against the backdrop of discontent among locals over rising prices.

“Russia plans to conduct an amphibious landing on Il-76 transport aircraft and helicopters in Transnistria,” the intelligence service said.

At the same time, the publication said that these statements contradict the data of Western intelligence, which believes that Russia does not have sufficient resources to safely fly in the air defense of Ukraine through the territory of the Odessa region. Also, to invade Moldova, the Russians had to create a “corridor” of land from the temporarily occupied Kherson through the Nikolaev and Odessa regions, putting themselves in danger.

They could try to conduct a military operation closer to Victory Day on May 9th. On this day, Russian President Vladimir Putin may announce Russia’s recognition of Transnistria’s independence. In addition, Russia’s intelligence services may plan to send troops to Tiraspol in conjunction with organizing riots and protests in Chisinau.

Military analysts Jack Watling and Nick Reynolds of the Royal Joint Institute for Defense Research believe such an operation by the Russians would have three objectives.

  • withdraw part of the Ukrainian troops on the southwestern front

  • stop the pro-European course of the current government in Moldova

  • threaten the West that supporting Ukraine with weapons and finance could lead to further destabilization in the region, especially in the Balkans.

Analysts noted in the report that Ukrainian intelligence learned of FSB Major General Dmitry Milyutin’s plans to try to use symbols of Russia’s aggression on Ukraine, which is banned in Moldova, in particular, St. Petersburg. George ribbon, during the protests. Allegedly, the protesters must have included so many prohibited symbols that the fines and arrests of the Moldovan police look like a suppression of freedom of speech and opposition.

Recall that in the territory of the part of Moldova occupied by Russian forces – Pridnestrovie – they are preparing to publish a newspaper, on the pages of which the inhabitants of the region ask the President of the Russian Federation for “assistance in protecting themselves from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. ”
