“There was a tradition in the Soviet Union – to make something big and strong for some holiday,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled.
The Russian military will not “artificially organize” military operations in Ukraine on any date, including May 9 Victory Day. At the same time, Moscow wants Ukraine to voluntarily end the resistance. This was announced on Sunday, May 1, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, RIA Novosti and TASS write.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said the Russian Federation would not adjust the deadlines for the end of the war to fit the dates. At the same time, he identified such an approach as typical Soviet, where “it is necessary to make something big, strong for some holiday.”
“Our military will not artificially adjust their actions to any date, including May 9,” said Lavrov, adding that the speed of “operations” in Ukraine depends, first of all, on the need to reduce any dangers to civilians and military personnel of the Russian Federation. “
Lavrov also spoke about President Vladimir Zelensky. According to him, the Russian side does not demand that Zelensky surrender, but he does demand that he give orders to the army and the Ukrainians to “stop the fighting.”
Recall that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that the war in Ukraine will not give Russia anything, but will only increase the number of states that will work to isolate the Russian Federation.
