New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Wednesday for trying to address the “awakening” and fix “a cultural problem” (You can watch Sununu’s comments below).
Sununu has criticized both former President Donald Trump and DeSantis over the past year. He gave DeSantis props for his interpretation of the “resurgence” during an interview with CNN on Wednesday, however, he doesn’t think it’s the Florida Republican’s job to accept it.
“I think he’s absolutely right that revival is really invading this culture in a very negative way,” Sununu said.
“Now, where we might disagree is whether the government should step in and fix the route? Well, the government is never useful to come in and solve a cultural problem».
Sununu, who said she was open to running for president last week, added during the interview with CNN anchor Erin Burnett that she believes the government should not “be here trying to fix everything.”
“I think we have to attack [wokeness] in America, but I’m a free market guy… If a company wants to be woken up, I don’t agree, I don’t completely agree, but it’s not like the government is going to come and punish a company or penalize a company, Sununu said.
He added: “Because now you’re setting a precedent for the Democrats to step in. And when they take the reins of management to penalize a company for being too conservative, it goes down a very, very slippery slope.”
Hello, which has ads that appear to be running in Iowa and South Carolinahe hasn’t been quiet about DeSantis and his potential run for president in 2024.
He told CNN’s Dana Bash last month that DeSantis, who he recently said could do well in his home state, could defeat Trump in a primary battle. He added that DeSantis could be a good president before he distinguished himself as Florida’s governor.
“I think a lot of Republican governors could be good [presidents]…,” he said.
“Everybody connects with voters differently, right? I mean, I don’t want to talk to Ron specifically, but I have my own style, he has his own style, everybody’s a little different, every state is different.”
