A campaign staff member for Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.) said he wouldn’t be shocked if the Republican “walked out of a building,” and another described in a report something he doesn’t find ” right” about the campaign. on the parliamentarian who embellishes the CV published on Wednesday.
The Talking Points Memo article comes as GOP officials — both in the House and on Long Island — are increasingly calling for his resignation.
“Lying on your resume is one thing,” said one employee, who was granted anonymity by Talking Points Memo. “But I think George is going to get kicked out of a building because of this financial mess.”
The report comes two days after the government’s legal campaign watchdog filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging the Republican congressman-to-be violated federal campaign finance laws and withheld “true” allegations of the $705,000 on who is lending them to his 2022 campaign.
The anonymous employees also discussed Santos’ delays in filing a personal financial statement, which was not filed until September 2022.
“I thought the lack of financial information, the clutter of books and reports was not great,” the employee said.

The staff said working with Santos’ campaign treasurer, Nancy Marks, was challenging and that they were unable to get a weekly “receipts and withdrawals” report from her.
Toby Gotesman, who was briefly a fundraising consultant for the campaign, also described his conversations with Santos about campaign finances.
“He would explain to me how certain things worked with the campaign and there were certain things he couldn’t know, and I had to deal with Nancy if someone wanted to give more than the limit,” Gotesman said.
“Now… I see what he did and then I started thinking about introducing my lifelong friends to this guy and asking them for money. I wish I hadn’t.
She recalled Santos bragging about buying a $10,000-plus Hermès bag and described something that didn’t feel “right” to her and she couldn’t figure it out.
“You know your first red flag instinct is always the one that comes back to bite you in the ass?” she said.
Gotesman, who has ancestors who survived the Holocaust, is also an artist who has depicted Holocaust themes through his various paintings. She said the Republican, who falsely described himself as Jewish during the campaign and said his grandparents were Holocaust refugees, told her he was Catholic and said she “thought he was a sociopath” after hearing the statements its on Youtube.
“Now that I think about it, I think he got the idea from me. … He knew I was a Holocaust painter. He knew that very well,” he said.
“How do you sit down with a very famous Holocaust artist and not say a word about your own family?”
