Many residents of Soledar want to leave the city, but this is not possible at the moment.
In Soledar, Donetsk region, where heavy fighting is taking place, there are now more than 500 civilians. Usually these are people over 50 years old. This was announced on Tuesday, January 10, by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavel Kirilenko, on the air of the national telethon.
He noted that all the people who wanted to leave Soledar before the most “hot” weather, had the opportunity to do so. The regional authorities provided them with transportation, took them out according to an orderly evacuation scheme, and then transferred them either to the center of the region or outside it.
“Today there are 523 people in Soledar. Some of them decided to leave today, but it is impossible because of the heavy fighting,” said Kirilenko.
The head of the Donetsk OVA noted that no one can leave the city until it is possible to safely enter and leave it.
He emphasized that, as a leader, he should not only help people leave as much as possible, but also take care of those who take them.
“It is very dangerous, and not even an armored vehicle can protect against the shells that the Russian invaders are using to shell the city,” said the head of the Donetsk Regional Military District.
He stressed that he had no reliable information about whether there were children in Soledar, but it was certainly known about adults. They live in shelters and shelters, because not a single building survives in Soledar.
“They have a supply of food. Metal stoves, firewood. Everything is saved for the New Year with a reserve. The authorities are engaged in distribution, and the locals in Soledar have stocks. We closed our eyes that people have old stocks, and distributed more, because it was understood that the situation could worsen,” explained Kirilenko.
It should be noted that fierce fighting continues on the territory of the city.
