The German chancellor did not rule out the transfer of Leopard tanks to Kyiv, but said that Germany would not take such a step on its own.
Germany won’t be the only one to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine. This was said by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during the event of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), reports on Monday, January 9, Reuters.
He noted that he remains convinced of the need to coordinate the supply of arms to Ukraine with allies.
According to Scholz, the Western Allies spent “a long time preparing, discussing and organizing it.”
“Germany will not go it alone. Germany will always remain united with its friends and allies,” Scholz said, adding that anything else would be irresponsible in such a dangerous situation.
Earlier, Finland promised Ukraine Leopard 2 tanks, subject to a European decision. Poland also said it could transfer to Ukraine a “symbolic” number of German-made Leopard 2 battle tanks – about a dozen.
