Germany is providing Ukraine with the weapons it needs, but in a way that does not make Germany and NATO parties to the war.
Germany provided more than 12 billion euros in aid to Ukraine during the 10 months of the war. Wolfgang Buechner, spokesman for the federal government, said this at a briefing on January 4, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, Germany is firmly on the side of Ukraine.
“Even the amount of support provided since February 24, 2022 – more than 12 billion euros – speaks for itself,” said Buechner.
He emphasized that information on military support is made public on the website of the Federal Government.
As for the supply of weapons, according to Buechner, the FRG provides Ukraine with the weapons it needs, but in such a way that Germany and NATO do not become a party to the war. Berlin will continue to adhere to this principle – not to provide weapons and military equipment, in particular tanks, unless partners and allies in the Alliance do so.
It was previously reported that the annual volume of arms exports from Germany is the second in history.
Recall that Germany began production of the RCH-155 self-propelled gun for Ukraine.
