In the near future, the restoration of destroyed housing will begin at the expense of funds confiscated from Russian banks.
UAH 17 billion confiscated from Russian banks will be used to restore the destroyed housing of Ukrainians. This is what the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal said at a government meeting on January 3.
“In the near future, we hope to start restoring the cost of funds confiscated from Russian banks – there is already UAH 17 billion in a special account for this,” he said.
According to Shmyhal, the priority is the restoration of damaged housing.
The prime minister also said that UAH 35.5 billion has been allocated in the state budget for the current year for the Fund for Eliminating the Consequences of Armed Aggression. The funds will be used to build and renovate public buildings, critical infrastructure facilities, and provide housing for IDPs.
Recall that the Deposit Guarantee Fund ensured the transfer of funds in the amount of UAH 17 billion from the accounts of Prominvestbank and the International Reserve Bank (formerly Sberbank of Russia) to the special fund of the state budget.
As reported, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Russian invaders have caused damage to Ukraine in the amount of more than $700 billion.
