Zelensky: Russia plans long-range drone attacks

Only two days have passed since the beginning of the year, and the number of downed Iranian drones in Ukraine is already over eighty. In the near future, this number may increase, the president warned.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in an evening speech to the people on Monday, January 2, spoke about a possible long-term drone attack in Ukraine.

“Only two days have passed since the beginning of the year, and the number of downed Iranian drones in Ukraine is already more than eighty. In the near future, this number may increase. We have information that Russia is planning a long-term Shahed Attack. It may be betting on attrition. To exhaust our men, air defense, our energy. But we must do – and we will do everything – so that the terrorist’s objective fails, like everyone else,” Zelensky stressed.

The President thanked the protectors of heaven.

“Today I would like to praise the Center, South and East Air Commands for the successful defense of the skies these days. And especially the fighters of the 96th Kyiv, 208th Kherson and 138th Dnieper anti-aircraft missile brigades, the 301st Nikopol anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Air Force, as well as the soldiers of the 39th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of the Ground Forces. Thanks, of course, to the pilots of our fighters and fighters of mobile fire groups. Thanks to everyone of fellow duty tonight at the combat posts! Thank you to everyone fighting for Ukraine! Thank you to everyone who helped! Glory to Ukraine!” said the president in his evening speech.

Earlier it was reported that the air defense forces destroyed 100% of the enemy drones fired on the territory of Ukraine on January 2.
