The Belarusian president formally signed a decree declaring 2023 the “year of peace and creation.”
The self-proclaimed head of the ruling regime in Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has declared 2023 the “year of peace and creation.” This was stated in his New Year’s decree, according to the official website of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The decree was signed “with the aim of uniting the Belarusian people, strengthening the ideas of peace and creative work in society as the main conditions for the development of the Belarusian state.”
In addition, the main areas for next year are:
-
improvement of the system of military-patriotic education of the population,
-
promoting the peaceful initiative of citizens and the public,
-
promoting interfaith dialogue, ensuring peace and harmony in Belarusian society,
-
demonstrating the advantages of the Belarusian economic model in the context of global unrest,
-
positioning creative labor as the main condition for the development of the Belarusian state.
The order states that it will supposedly strengthen the perception of Belarus as an “island of peace.” Lukashenka’s document also states that such a move would be “Belarus’s response to militarization in the European region.”
However, the order does not explain what exactly “militarization of the European region” means: a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine or something else.
Recall that Lukashenka met Putin with a bouquet and a loaf of bread during the latter’s visit to Minsk.
In addition, earlier it was reported that Putin presented the rings to the leaders of eight CIS countries. Lukashenko is only one of the presidents of these countries who immediately tried it.
