Mayors are targets everywhere. Seven city leaders are considered missing.
Since the beginning of the mass invasion, Russian occupation forces have kidnapped 30 mayors of Ukrainian cities. Some of them have not been found yet. This was said by the mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko in an interview with The Spiegel.
So, according to Klitschko, seven city leaders are considered missing.
“Mayors are targets everywhere. The Russians tried to arrest mayors and used various methods to force them to cooperate,” Klitschko said.
He said the government did not give a clear answer to local officials whether they should leave their city in case of potential jobs or not. Ukrainians themselves have to make such a decision.
“The situation is difficult: if you stay in your community, you are a traitor … How many times have we turned to the government with a request to give instructions: stay or evacuate?” Klitschko said, adding that there is no clear answer to this.
Recall that the invaders kidnapped and took several leaders of communities in the Kherson region.
It was previously reported that the military of the Russian Federation abducted children from the Kherson orphanage.
