In the Russian city of Engels on December 29, an air defense system was launched. The governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, announced the destruction of an “unidentified object.”
“An air defense system went out on the territory of the Engels district. An unknown object was destroyed. Operational services were sent to the area,” he wrote in Telegram.
Busargin emphasized that there is no threat to the safety of residents, and that the information disseminated about the need to evacuate the city is false.
Earlier, some Telegram channels, citing Engels residents, reported explosions near the airport.
Recall that the first shelling of the military airport in Engels took place on December 5. Then the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced “minor damage” to two aircraft and the death of three servicemen.
Another attack took place on 26 December. Russian authorities claimed to have shot down a flying drone, but three soldiers were killed by falling debris.
