The largest group of dissident guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), who did not accept a peace deal in 2016, have declared a unilateral ceasefire until January 2, the Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Peace said this Saturday.
“By listening to (a) communities and organizational processes, EMC [Estado Mayor Central de las] FARC declare a unilateral ceasefire by January 2, 2023,” the High Commissioner for Peace tweeted. Danilo Rueda.
In the same week, the National Liberation Army (THEN) declared a truce, moving forward in Caracas peace talks with the Colombian government.
Both organizations promised to stop attacks on public forces until January 2.
