Such fraud has led to a decrease in the value of customs payments and tax evasion to a particularly large extent.
Detectives from the Economic Security Bureau exposed people importing branded tourist equipment to Ukraine under the guise of Chinese goods at a reduced cost – the shipment actually cost about 45 million hryvnias. This was reported by the BEB press service.
It is noted that such fraud has led to a decrease in the value of customs payments and tax evasion to a particularly large extent.
Tourist goods and equipment were found during the inspection of three vehicles. Bureau employees seized and arrested various tourist products:
-
more than 24 thousand portable flashlights;
-
more than 10 thousand pendant lamps;
-
more than a thousand video cameras;
-
camping equipment, radio receivers, mobile speakers, etc.
“In the customs documents, this product is indicated as made in the People’s Republic of China and an underestimated value is indicated. In fact, it is a product of well-known European and world brands. The estimated total value of the seized goods is about UAH 45 million,” the report said.
BEB detectives discovered that a group of people, including officials of business entities, delivered branded goods to the customs border of Ukraine without paying the relevant customs duties. The goods were not declared and sold in Ukraine.
Also, the Bureau established the facts of importation and customs clearance of goods using front companies and their officials, which in fact had nothing to do with the implementation of economic operations and export-import.
Earlier, the head and head of a subdivision of one of the customs posts of Kyiv customs of the State Customs Service were exposed, who demanded a bribe from the director of the importing enterprise for customs clearance of goods.
