The naval exercises scheduled for this week between the Russian and Chinese navies in the East China Sea are a “reaction” to the “aggressive” US stance in Asia, Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov said.
“This cooperation is a natural reaction to the aggressive US military buildup in the region,” Gerasimov said, addressing foreign military representatives.
“Russian-Chinese maritime and air patrols in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as exercises and exercises, have become a practical application of the strategic partnership with China”, – Gerasimov noted during his speech.
Maneuvers from 21 to 27 December
Russia announced on Monday that several of its warships will take part in a series of exercises with the Chinese fleet from December 21 to 27, at a time when Moscow and Beijing are strengthening their ties with the West amid the conflict in Ukraine.
The plans of the Russian Ministry of Defense also include joint rocket-artillery and anti-submarine exercises.
“The purpose of these exercises is to increase the combat coherence of the troops and forces of both countries and their ability to withstand new challenges and threats,” Gerasimov said.
However, the head of the Russian General Staff said that Moscow and Beijing do not intend to “create alliances” or “new divisions in the region, like Washington.”
In recent months, the Kremlin has tried to strengthen relations with Asian countries, especially with Chinain response to Western sanctions against Russia after his attack on Ukraine.
Moscow and Beijing presented as a geopolitical counterweight USA and his allies, as evidenced by the visit China on Wednesday, former Russian President and current number two on the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, in which he met with President Xi Jinping.

“Espacio Vital”: Emil Blonde Galvez, psychologist, noted that people feel fear, and this has a huge impact on a person. Although he pointed out that protest is a right, when it becomes violent, it affects people’s mental health, leaving a lot of anxiety and fear. The specialist said that adults have a lot of stress because of the insecurities they have about their jobs, about their belongings, about not getting anything in the midst of a stop and a protest. He added that this situation is very frustrating for people and hopes that everything will go better are dwindling.
