It is a building with a long history. Built in the 16th century to accommodate passing travelers, it could whisper many secrets to us. The German Emperor Joseph II or the Prussian King Frederick the Great sometimes carefully descended there. In 1852, the Ott Frères glass factory moved to the site of the inn and remained there for 130 years. This means we are well within these walls. This new lifestyle brand of hybrid hostels has a knack for fitting into iconic locations. It established its 262 beds in 2021 in a former 19th-century tobacco factory in the Krutenau district of Strasbourg. This former factory, which is still undergoing restoration, is soon to house restaurants and will soon become a place full of life, new be a place. The recently opened hotel tandem (4 stars) in front of the station aims to be an “extension” of the street. On the first floor, exposed bricks and a ‘concrete effect floor’ under a ceiling of ‘stabilized’ greenery evoke an urban passage leading to the common areas, which house a bar, restaurant and library. Very nice places to relax, work, meet or chat. 70 rooms are bright and lively. L’Échappée and Tandem, solo or romantic; Chasers and Peloton for small races, family or friends. The ensemble awarded the hotel in the CommerceDesign Strasbourg Eurometropolis 2022 competition (thanks to Frög Architecture studio, which signed the establishment). But the uniqueness of this boutique hotel lies primarily in its ecological responsibility, which is far reaching (zero chemicals, no plastic, zero waste, etc.). A short distance from the city centre, the four-star Hotel Les Haras offers a delicious respite from tranquility in the historic buildings of a former royal stud farm, brilliantly renovated by the Jouin Manku agency.
