The Executive Director of the Immunization Division of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Maria Elena Martinez, said that there are still about 3 million people in Peru who have not received a single dose of the vaccine against coronavirus. Given the increase in cases in recent weeks, the official
advised the public and medical staff to complete their doses and thus avoid serious illness.
“Covid-19 not only affects people over 60, but also adults over 50 who have not been vaccinated. About 3 million people have not received any dose against covid-19, and we encourage them to get vaccinated, ”Martinez urged.
On the other hand, the official Minsa noted that today more than 73% of the target population have three doses against SARS-CoV-2. He also said that more than 44,000 girls and boys under the age of 5 from across the country completed their routine vaccinations this weekend alone. In other words, 80% of the target planned until December (56,094) has been achieved.
Masks will not be mandatory
Health Minister Kelly Portalatino assured that the return to masks will not be mandatory, but will be voluntary, especially in enclosed spaces. This, given the inevitability of the fifth wave, which will occur in two weeks of December, according to Minsa herself.
“It is not necessary, there is no return. Each person can only voluntarily use (masks) indoors and without ventilation. I want this to be very clear.
