The body of Captain Angel Torres Garcia, a 44-year-old aviation firefighter who died in an accident that took place on the runway of Jorge Chavez Airport, was buried this afternoon. During the ceremony, which took place at the San Pedro Cemetery, his colleagues from the Garibaldi 6 Fire Station paid tribute to him.
A mass was held in honor of his remains a few minutes before the burial. After the religious ceremony members of the fire brigade placed recognition medals on the coffin as a sign that they will continue to accompany him. Similarly, white balloons were released in honor of his memory, one of which had the letter “A” on it.
Not only members of the Garibaldi company arrived at the cemetery, but also members of various bombs, such as La Victoria and other areas. Also present was his brother, a member of the National Police.
The ceremony was attended by the parents of Captain Torres from different provinces. Fire Company and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy in Peru, Giancarlo Maria Curciomade possible the transfer of family members.
Fire chief Louis Dawsonspoke to the RPP and remembered Captain Angel Torres as a gentlemanly, cordial and responsible person.
“Captain Angel Torres Garcia was a very cordial person, very gallant, very observant of his duty and responsible. I was 16 at the fire department and 10 at the airport. That is, a lot of experience as a firefighter on both sides,” he said.
