public service petitioned for nine months of pre-trial detention for Jennifer Wuendi Paredes Bautista, who was arrested after leading an indoor riot East Lima Special Electoral Jurylocated in the Santa Anita district of Lima, along with alleged supporters of a political organization.
The request was submitted by the Second Division of the Fourth Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for Criminal Matters of Santa Anita, under the Provincial Attorney Fanny Sulca Peceros, in the Santa Anita Preliminary Court of Investigation in the case of an alleged crime against public order in the modality of disorder, provided for and authorized by imprisonment for a term of from six to eight years old.
Last Thursday, Jennifer Wendy Paredes Batista was arrested by police after participating with a group of people in an attack on the premises and staff JEE East Lima. According to a public complaint filed by the National Jury for Elections, the authors belong to a political group.
Detention Hearing
Taking into account these facts and the police report on criminal news, the prosecutor’s office began preliminary proceedings, including the identification of other subjects who could also participate in the said criminal act, in order to involve them in the investigation.
The Santa Anita Court of Inquiry is expected to hold a remand hearing within 48 hours for prosecutors to uphold the request.
As part of the regional and municipal elections on October 2, the public ministry is developing the #NoCometasDelitosElectorales campaign to prevent and, if applicable, prosecute electoral crimes affecting the normal development of elections throughout the country.
