Special Envoy at La Baule
The coastal road, otherwise known as the GR34, starts here at the dam, which is being revised by the new urban development. We descend it, returning to the past of Saint-Nazaire. Crossing the Havana neighborhood, the beautiful houses of the roaring 20s with acid facades speak to us of this decade of 1920. A little further along the track appears the fishing sequence, a Saint-Nazaire version of the Bordeaux squares. Three of these perched fishing cabins can be rented for the day.
It is from here that the city is gradually being forgotten. From the beaches to the dunes, the road continues but changes nature. The toll trail leads from Saint-Nazaire to Pont-Mahé for 110 kilometers on a well-marked road. It takes six days to cover it in its entirety, but in sections it offers fascinating walks that are accessible to all.
