Brazil exempts from the use of the vaccine
On the other hand, Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) announced the use of a monkeypox vaccine and drug, resulting in 4,144 infections and one death in that country.
In practice, Anvisa has approved a registration exemption to allow the Ministry of Health to import and use the Jynneos/Imvanex vaccine and Tecovirimat to treat the disease within the country, the note says.
The monkeypox vaccine was developed by Bavarian Nordic, is manufactured in Denmark and Germany, and despite being the same product, has different names in the US (Jynneos) and Europe (Imvanex).
A slight decrease in the incidence in the world
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the number of cases of monkeypox worldwide declined last week, with the notable exception of the Americas, where they continued to rise.
Laboratory-confirmed cases have risen to 41,664 in 96 countries, with 12 deaths.
After four weeks of rising infections in a row, the last week took a break with 21% fewer new cases, totaling 5,907.
