Elections 2022: JEE Lima Centro has registered eight lists of candidates for Metropolitan of Lima

Special Electoral Jury of Central Lima registered eight of the 12 lists of candidates submitted to the Metropolitan of Lima by various political organizations for participation in the 2022 regional and municipal elections.

These are payrolls for Popular Renovation, Front of Hope 2021, We are Peru, Together for Peru, Free Peru, Alliance for Progress, Advance Country (one candidate) and Podemos Peru.

The list of this last group was registered and published last Wednesday by JEE Lima Centro, and then sent to the Decentralized Office of Electoral Processes (ODPE) Lima Centro for the preparation of election materials for regional and municipal elections.

The same was done with the statements regarding the relations of the other mentioned political parties in the messages of 5 and 8 August respectively.

Meanwhile, there are four slate registration applications that were deemed inadmissible at the time: they concern the Green Democrat, Faith in Peru, the Patriotic Party of Peru, and the Purple Party.

Situation Country SuccessA group led by Miraflores Mayor Luis Molina stands apart. Of the 40 members of the list of candidates for the Metropolitan of Lima (including the mayor, deputy mayor and aldermen), only one of its members was admitted.

JNE declares inadmissible accusation against Podemos Peru candidates

Recently, the National Electoral Jury (JNE) declared inadmissible the objection raised against the Podemos Peru candidate list, whose main figure is Daniel Urresti, al Municipality of Lima.

The reason for this action was the failure to comply with a formal requirement, namely the failure to provide proof of payment of the relevant removal rate in a timely manner.

According to the JNE, this process is set out in article 34, number 34.1 of the Registration Rules for Lists of candidates for the 2022 municipal elections. Consequently Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Central Lima dismissed the appeal and ordered its final dossier.

Similarly, JNE argued that essential requirements were also not met because procedural actions of the electoral body are called into question and not a violation of any requirement that is in accordance with this political organization.

“The vice is not a way to question the proceedings of the SIO, who, using their legal powers and powers, act autonomously to verify that the requirements of the law are fully complied with and that candidates are not prevented from participating in the election campaign,” JNE points out.

The legislator said that economic interests are behind the project, approved at the insistence of the plenary session of the parliament. On the other hand, MP Alex Paredes of the ruling Magisterial Bloc justified his group’s support for the project’s persistence despite the government’s compliance with the law.
