Getting married and having children remains the best antidote to recidivism. This is what appears from the latest statistics of the prison administration, dated July 12.
The study, which focused on those released from prison in 2016 with requisite reasons to withdraw, found that 32.9% committed a new offense within a year of release with a conviction recorded in the national criminal record. This proportion is 45.4% within 24 months of release. This recidivism is especially important in the first four months after release from prison, when the rate exceeds 15%.
Deterrence role
Depending on the family situation, this recidivism rate varies greatly. Thus, a single person repeats it in 36.8% of cases in the first year after leaving prison, and in almost 50% (49.8%) during the second year. These figures drop to 19.5% and 28.5% respectively for individuals…
