Covid-19. will a health transition at borders be helpful in slowing the resurgence of the epidemic?

Summer vacations begin, and with them, the fear that the resumption of the epidemic will spoil. On Monday, the government’s spokesman, Olivier Veran, presented a bill that provides for the possibility of creating a health corridor at the country’s borders from August 1. A measure that was immediately welcomed by emergency physician Patrick Pellow, who said this surveillance has become “necessary“. But will it really limit the spread of the virus at the height of summer?

The bill, submitted to the Council of Ministers and voted in committee in the National Assembly on Wednesday, enables the government to introduce a healthcare transition from August 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. The latter will apply “borders or between mainland France, Corsica and the overseas territories“. The health certificate should not be confused with the vaccination certificate. it implies the presence of proof of vaccination, but also a certificate of recovery or a negative test for Covid-19. In short, provisions that allow you to verify a priori that you do not leave or enter the area, being positive.
