Le Figaro. – You have just done research on the difficulties in the hospital. How big is the crisis?
Thierry Godot. – The public hospital and through it the entire healthcare system is cracking. It threatens to collapse in the coming months, if emergency and structural measures are not taken in a very short period of time. Regardless of region or type of structure, 63.7% of institutions report great difficulty, and 97.6% expect it by 2023. We are not facing an emergency crisis, but an entire hospital and beyond, the entire health care system.
One of the main problems is the chronic shortage of beds, and this phenomenon is exacerbated by the shortage of carers, which leads to further closure of beds. In our survey, 32% of respondents reported that the bed was closed for critical care, 20.7% for perinatal, 44% for surgery, 74.1% for medicine, and 45.3% for in psychiatry.
