Julio Gago: “Those who wash windows and tires will disappear from metropolitan Lima in less than a month”

The Metropolitan Council of Lima approved last Friday a decree banning the mass wipers in the capital. This measure was supported by Mayor Rafael López Allaga and received the approval of 39 councilors and the burgomaster himself.

With this in mind, Councilor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML), Julio Gagoin dialogue with RPP newsconsidered that with the current resolution, people who wash windows and tires on the avenues of the capital will “disappear”.

“By the time the decree is issued, those who wash windows and tires already know that they cannot engage in this type of activity in any public place. They know very well that they will no longer receive gifts or tips, that is, they will not waste their time. There will be a minimum until they disappear,” he said.

In this sense, Gago Perez it is believed that in less than 30 days there will be no more those who perform these tasks.

“In less than a month, those who clean windows and tires will disappear from Metropolitan of Lima. As such, we also look to Serenasgo and the police to enforce this ordinance,” he said.

Likewise, the councilor of the commune of Lima has indicated that there will be no economic sanctions against those who do this work.

“There are no material sanctions or anything like that because we think that these people do not have enough income. As well as those who drive transport,” he stressed.

“For this, there are civil security and national police, who, if they see that window cleaning, you must remove them immediately. And if they have a criminal record, they will have to be taken to the police station,” he said.

On the other side, Julio Gago He pointed out that, in general, all outpatient commerce is banned in metropolitan Lima and that the leadership of the current mayor will only enforce this rule.

“There is a regulation, which I think is from 2021 or 2020, which states that ambulatory vending is prohibited in all public places. It already has violations, and it must be observed. We are working on this in the municipality,” he said.
