National Directorate of Migration of Peru announced the conclusion of an agreement for the purchase of more than half a million electronic passport books and protective sheets, which will be received from the end of May this year, in order to ensure the provision of citizens with travel documents over the next month.

This purchase was made due to the insufficient number of passport books and securities that were available at the enterprise, which at the moment makes it impossible to pay more attention to Peruvian citizens.

The acquisition, made at an estimated cost of S$12.3 million, was authorized by a decision Supervisionwhich decided to establish the appropriate responsibilities for the configuration of the cause of the shortage, which was discovered by the current management.

According to Migration, the first delivery under this contract is scheduled for the end of May next year in order to gradually increase attention to the e-passport process in favor of citizens.

National Superintendent of Migration, Armando Garcia Chungaannounced this acquisition during his presentation before Foreign Relations Commission of the Congress of the Republic, last January; which was also brought to the attention Comptroller General of the Republic And Supreme Agency for Public Procurement.

In addition, an international tender commissioned by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the acquisition of 800 thousand notebooks and films to protect the passport.

It should be noted that on Wednesday, the 1st of this month, the Ministry of Economy and Finance issued the Supreme Decree No. 026-2023-EF, by which it transfers an article to Migration to finance this acquisition.

Once this purchase is completed through international bidding, migration As of October this year, he will receive this additional batch of notebooks and protective sheets of passports, thereby ensuring the supply for the normalization of services to citizens for the entire period 2023 and part 2024.
