Following its podcast operations in the US and its Facebook News information service, the US tech giant is today announcing the end of its Bulletin newsletter program. Just one year after its launch across the Atlantic. Launched in June 2021 to compete with the popular Substack platform and attract independent authors, Bulletin would not meet Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg’s hopes.
In early 2022, the service offered “over 115 publications” authors and journalists, half of whom followed “over 1000 free subscribers”. Despite these modest numbers, the Bulletin still managed to attract some fine feathers in American media, such as journalist Malcolm Gladwell or physician and columnist James Hamblin.
