On Monday, in preparation for the launch of the rocket, which was supposed to make a test flight without a crew, it turned out that the supply line of liquid hydrogen did not sufficiently cool one of the four main stages of the engine.
The 322-foot (98-meter) rocket remains in place at the Kennedy Space Center with an empty crew capsule. It is the most powerful rocket ever made by NASA.
The Space Launch System or SLS rocket will attempt to send the capsule around the moon and back. No one will ride, just three dummies. If successful, it would be the first capsule to fly to the Moon since NASA’s Apollo program 50 years ago.
If NASA can’t launch by September 5, mission leaders say the next attempt will be made in October.
