The last sample taken by the rover on the Red Planet may contain signs of microbial life.
The Perseverance rover has collected an 11th rock sample that may contain information about whether life exists on Mars. Space reported it.
NASA says the latest sample is sedimentary rock that may contain biomarkers, or signs of life. But scientists will get an exact answer only when all the collected samples are delivered to Earth.
Both sample return missions, conducted by NASA and the European Space Agency, are due to begin on the Red Planet in 2028. In the meantime, Perseverance will prepare the samples it will collect from Lake Crater and find a suitable landing site for the sample return mission.
After the sample return mission lands, the spacecraft will carry the samples aboard a small Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV) rocket.
It is noted that the Perseverance rover contains 43 containers in total, of which 38 are expected to be filled with samples.
Earlier it was reported that NASA using the JunoCam camera took a picture of the vortices near the north pole of Jupiter.
