Researchers from the Korean Institute of Advanced Technologies (KAIST) have shown a new humanoid robot, who is not only confident that running and succeeding in obstacles, but also able to fulfill the famous Lunar Gait, friendly engineering reports.

At the beginning of the recording, the robot moves back with smooth steps to slide the conveyor platform, and then shows different types of walks: from a gentle speed of 0.98 m/s to running at a speed of 3.3 m/s (about 12 km/h). He could withstand stability tests – even after shocks and blows, maintaining his balance and moving constantly.
One feature is the ability to “blindly walk”: the robot wins the barriers, stairs and fragments without the help of cameras or visual sensors, which focuses only on the internal sensors. In addition, he performed the walk of a duck and training with jumping on the straight legs, emphasizing the accuracy of the control algorithms.
The humanoid is 165 cm high and 75 kg is equipped with machines and gearboxes built exclusively in kaist. Its control system is based on artificial intelligence algorithms with strengthening training, worked in a virtual environment, which allows to prevent “between simulation and reality.”
The team will display the results of the research live at the Corl 2025 Conference on September 29 and the IEEE Humanoids 2025 on October 1. The next goal of scientists is to teach the robot to perform more complex tasks: moving along with pushing carts, climbing stairs and working on industry conditions.
