This makes it possible to develop new medicines or technologies to solve global problems on Earth.
The British company DeepMind Technologies Limited, thanks to artificial intelligence, was able to understand the structure of every protein known to science. The New York Times reported it.
With this discovery, scientists hope to accelerate research into more unknown organisms and launch a new field called metaproteomics.
“Now scientists can look at this entire database and look for patterns – relationships between species and evolutionary patterns that were not obvious until now,” said Demis Hassabis, head of DeepMind, in an interview.
It has been observed that proteins begin as strands of chemical compounds, then twist and fold into three-dimensional shapes that determine how these molecules bind to each other. If scientists can determine the shape of a particular protein, they can determine how it works.
If scientists can understand how these proteins work, they can begin to fight antibiotic resistance.
It was previously reported that non-communicable diseases are the leading cause of premature death in Ukraine.
