The detection confirms that fatigue and sleep disturbance may be interrelated, but at the same time there are individual mechanisms of brain effects.
Scientists have first identified a group of neurons in the hypothalamus, which may explain how stress leads to sleep disturbances and memory worsening. It was reported by nature with a reference to a study published in the Journal of Neuroscience.
We talk about neurons in the parahenitricular nucleus of the hypothalamus that hide the hormone corticotropin and play a major role in the regulation of stress reactions. As scientists have found out, activating these neurons violates the dream and weakens the memory, while their obstruction, on the contrary, slightly improves sleep and significantly increases the ability to remember.
For the co -Author of Shinja Chong, a Neuro -Scientist from the University of Pennsylvania, this study has a personal size: he admitted that during stress he himself found sleep problems, which negatively affects his work and study.
During the experiments of mice, they put in a stressful situation – they were kept in plastic pipes. They eventually recorded sleep disturbances and spatial memory problems. These concomitant effects are caused by artificial stimulation of the corresponding neurons, and their obstruction has improved the results.
This discovery proves that stress and sleep disturbances may be interrelated, but at the same time there are individual mechanisms of impact on the brain. According to researchers, these neurons can be targeted for new methods of treating stress and psychiatric disorders, in particular depression and post -traumatic stress disorder.
Remember that it was previously reported that only three nights of bad sleep could harm the heart.
