The new technique gives you to identify gluten intolerance without long and painful methods. The review showed accuracy in 97% of cases.
Australian scientists have developed an innovative blood test, giving you a significant and easier to diagnose celiac disease -an immune reaction to gluten.
The test shows a specific immune marker (Interleukin-2), which appears on the body after consumption of gluten. The opening was reported in the Journal Gastroenterology, The Guardian reports.
Celiac disease arises when the body cannot usually digest gluten – protein contained in wheat, rye, barley and oats. In people with this disease, gluten encourages inflammation of the intestinal mucosa, causing pain, bloating, cramp and other unpleasant symptoms.
Now, for diagnosis, it is necessary to use gluten for at least a week before taking tests – and this process is often accompanied by fatigue symptoms. That is why millions of people, according to one of the authors of Jason Tai-Din’s study, live with undiagnosed celiac disease.
The new test avoids this stage. Scientists offer to mix blood samples with gluten in the laboratory to see if Interleukin-2 appears. During the study of nearly 200 participants, the procedure showed accuracy in 97% of cases.
“The test is technically very simple, so it’s easy to adapt to a regular laboratory test,” the researchers said.
However, some experts have warned: people taking immunosuppressants may be less sensitive. This aspect also requires additional study.
Earlier it was reported that Japanese scientists had developed plastic, which could completely dissolve in sea water.
