The new version of artificial intelligence has become the most -censorsor in the company’s history according to the results of the independent trial.
The Chinese start of Deptseek has released a new version of artificial intelligence R1-0528, which has shown wonderful results in the field of programming, math and general knowledge and has almost caught the GPT-4O flagship from Openai. However, according to Techcrunch, independent trial revealed a significant strengthening of censorship restrictions, especially on topics related to criticizing Chinese authorities.
The test was conducted by an anonymous developer under the nickname XLR8harder on the speechmap platform, comparing the reaction of AI models to sensitive topics. According to the results, the new version of R1-0528 is more careful about controversial issues than previous depsek models, and has been the most censor in company history.
Particular attention was attracted by the model’s behavior when discussing the topic of internoval camps in Sinjiang, which, according to human rights activists, more than one million uyghurs were contained. In some cases, the model recognized these camps by violating human rights, but most of the answers either avoid comments or filed an official view of the Chinese government.
It should be noted that according to the law adopted in China in 2023, those who develop AI are obliged to prevent content creation, which can damage “country unity or social unity.” This is widely interpreted as a ban on any narrative that is contrary to state policy. For this, the company uses special filters at the level of requests or training models, considering the censorship.
The initial version of Deepseek R1 refused to respond to 85% of political sensitive requests. At the discretion of new trials, this indicator has become higher in the new version of R1-0528.
We reminded, earlier reported that in China they presented a leader of the digital military based on Deepseek.
