A launch vehicle with a spacecraft and crew members on board began from the Cosmodrome to north-west China at 17:17 Pekinsky Time.
China successfully launched Shenzhou 20 Manned Ship, which goes to National Orbital Station Tiangun. The launch of the Long March 2F vehicle launch took place from the Zyutsyuan Cosmodrome in north-west China. It was reported by Space.com on Thursday, April 24th.
Three astronauts were riding: an experienced commander of Chen Dong, of which was the third flight, as well as newcomers to Chen Junzhui and Van Jie – both taken to the third set of Chinese astronauts in 2020.
Expect the ship to be attached to Tiangun 6.5 hours after starting. There, the new staff will change the Shenzhou-19 mission team, which will return to Earth on April 29th.
Chen Dong first flew to the station in 2016 and led the Shenzhou-14 mission in 2022.
“On the one hand, I feel pride and joy. On the other hand, I understand responsibility,” he said on the eve of the launch.
The mission became the ninth journey to Manned Tiangun and the fifth in the framework of the phase of its entire operation. The orbital station rotates to a height of 340-450 km above the ground.
The mission will last for six months.
During the stay of astronauts riding the Space Station, a mission will be sent to them, which will deliver power supplies, gasoline to keep the station orbit, as well as new experiments and materials.
Keep in mind that the Chinese Private Space Company Galactic Energy launched its own vehicle launching Ceres-1 on Monday, which brought eight satellites to space.
Earlier, China launched the Lijian-1 Y5 commercial launch vehicle, which brought 15 satellites of land observation to near-earth orbit, including the remote sensing spacecraft.
